Human Buildings: Figures amidst buildings and humans. In poses, in motion, in a simple gesture... Grand containers revealing their presence, pillars of chaos, and embodiment of space. Their presence gazes upon us from a closed skin, yet with a personal space that imposes itself upon the viewer.

Human Space is an exploration of the psychological space within oneself. It involves understanding the human being as a living architecture, constantly evolving, with spaces for experiences, achievements, and failures. All of this is seen from a relative perspective, from within ourselves.

How do we perceive ourselves? How do we experience our shapes and spaces? And how do we feel when interacting with the outside world?

It's a continuous metamorphosis, characterized by tensions and constant changes that shape our inner core.

This series portrays the outcome of the collision between two cultures.

It began with 8 heads: 4 pre-Columbian and 4 Spanish. These 8 heads have been in my possession for many years. I've contemplated them over the years since their creation. And I didn't complete them because I sensed the narrative wasn't quite finished yet.

​

Then, from the depths of my soul, I witnessed 15 drawings spring to life. Each one represents the amalgamation of both cultures, serving as a reminder that we are not "pure," but rather a blend of diverse cultures and narratives.

Noah's Ark is a fusion of several elements: architecture, machine, human being. It is full of everything, and everything is intimately connected to everything else. As in life, we go in a boat where everything we do affects others. And who we are is affected by others.

This humanized architecture (the "Ark") also contains time. Each layer of paint remains as a record of time: every time I face the canvas, I respond to what is already recorded in it. And so, each layer is influenced by the previous one. It's a record of a dialogue I have with the painting.

This series is composed of 48 paintings and 2 sculptures and is very influenced by my own migrating experience - having arrived in the US a little bit over two years ago-, and how interacting with people from other parts of the world in a new scenario, can mold the way I react to the painted canvas.

Breathed into existence with the tender caress of recycled wood, each fragment carries a tapestry of stories, whispers of its previous life. A symphony of history echoes within the grain, an intimate narrative that could only unfold through the metamorphosis of reclaimed timbers. The essence of this creation intertwines with the threads of antiquity, embodying a chronicle of times past, an intricate dance with identity and memory. Birthed during the chapter of my own narrative, a period when I dwelled in the embrace of an apartment building whose residents could script an entire saga in the grand tome of existence. Unique and disparate, each neighbor became a brushstroke in this serendipitous composition, a living kaleidoscope of individuality. Without conscious contemplation, this series unfurled effortlessly, a poetic spillage from the reservoirs of my mind, capturing the diverse symphony of personalities that danced through the corridors of that shared existence.

Within the rhythmic cadence of the "Animal Nature" series, I delve into the profound tapestry where spontaneity intertwines with the quest for being and the poignant recognition of not belonging. Figures and fragments, whether human or animal, become vessels bearing the intuitive whispers of existence. Painted between the years 2004 and 2008, these canvases transcend mere strokes to embody the evolution of my art, a testament to the ever-unfolding chapters of my life. More than distinct series, they are poignant fragments reflecting the ceaseless seeking of elusive truths, an unwitting pilgrimage through the realms of discovery. In each brushstroke, I discover echoes of a story, a kaleidoscope of years where aspirations were woven into the fabric of creation, laying the foundation for the opulent narrative that would blossom in the subsequent "Geographic Anatomy" series.
